TEHRAN – Iranian director Fahimeh Mirzahosseini is staging a play entitled “Shape and Color” for an audience of babies between 6 and 16 months old at the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) in Tehran.

Babies are taken by their parents to the stage where a cast of performers tries to communicate with them by some colorful geometrical shapes, the designer of the play, Atusa Shamlu, said in a press release published by the IIDCYA on Tuesday.

“The play aims to teach the basic concepts of shapes and colors to babies,” she added.

“Theater for Early Years or TEY has been designed and performed for many years in other countries but this is the first time we have decided to experience it in Iran after considering the requests of the babies’ parents,” she said.

“Color and Shape” is an experimental performance, which is based on several research studies and child psychology.
